Griffith, East Chicago, Hammond and Cedar Lake are the only towns who have had the fortitude to resist the political pressure applied by Visclosky, One Region and The times.
March 7, 2017-The Town of Griffith is taking a significant step toward transparency tonight as they will livestream the Griffith Town Council on Facebook. The livestream will be viewable at 7:00 p.m. on the Discover Griffith Facebook page-https://www.facebook.com/discovergriffith/. The stream will also be available live on nwigazette.com
The Council is expected to take up Congressman Pete Visclosky’s request for funding for the West Lake Extension. Griffith officials previously offered Congressman Visclosky $20,000 per year for his boondoggle train, but the deal went south when Congressman Visclosky attempted to change the terms of the deal by requiring a percentage contribution instead of a flat $20,000 per year as offered by the Council. Now Visclosky is back and begging again with One Region and The Times applying pressure to Griffith officials to take money from local roads and economic development to fund the train to Munster.
Several other communities have express regrets after hastily pledging funds to the West Lake Extension. Griffith, East Chicago, Hammond and Cedar Lake are the only towns who have had the fortitude to resist the political pressure applied by Visclosky, One Region and The times.Click here for reuse options!
