US Marshalls Nab Gary Murder Suspect in Michigan

February 15, 2017-United States Marshalls apprehended Lacindo Luckett, age 17 of Gary, Indiana, yesterday in Lansing, Michigan. According to a written release, Luckett was accused of fatally shooting a man in Gary, Indiana, on Oct. 1, 2016. Court records show that Luckett was charged along with co-defendant Kenya Honeycutt, in the killing of Samuel Moore, age 43, of Gary. According to the probable cause affidavit filed in that case, Luckett shot Moore during the perpetration of a robbery. Both Luckett and Honeycutt have been charged as adults.

Marshalls say “the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, Hammond Division, began assisting the Gary Police Department and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department in the investigation in early October. The investigation eventually led authorities to believe Luckett was in the Lansing area based on a tip. The Lansing Area Fugitive Task Force was enlisted to help track down Luckett.

On Feb. 13, task force members conducted surveillance at a Lansing trailer park. After several hours, Luckett was seen leaving the residence and getting into a vehicle. Marked units from the Michigan State Police assisted the task force in a traffic stop of the vehicle, and Luckett was arrested without incident.

Luckett is being held at the Ingham County Jail in Mason, Michigan, and will be transported back to Indiana after extradition proceedings are concluded. He is expected to appear in court in Ingham County today.”
