February 4, 2017-Hammond Police have asked residents in the state line area to be on high alert after several recent burglaries. According to the report, a home in the 100 block of Coolidge was burglarized on February 1, 2017 between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.. “Unknown suspects entered through a rear door or rear window. Once inside they stole a laptop computer and jewelry” according to the alert shared by the Hammond Police Facebook page. On January 31, 2017 between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. a residence in the 7100 block of State Line was burglarized. “Unknown suspect(s) entered the residence by pushing in a basement window. Once inside they stole electronics, jewelry, sporting goods and coins” the report states.
The alert follows a similar alert issued two days ago by the Indi-Illi Crime Watch. According to that post, police believe there is an active burglar in the area.
