February 3, 2017-Munster Police were called to 101 45th Avenue at 5:40 a.m. yesterday after a reported shooting. According to Munster Police Lt. Ed Strbjak, police responded to the location and found a woman had been shot one time. The woman was transported to an area trauma center and details regarding her condition are unavailable at this time. Police learned that two suspects fled from the scene in a vehicle.
Munster Police then received a call regarding two individuals trying to enter Family Christian Center, 340 45th Avenue according to Lt. Strbjak. Munster Police, assisted by Dyer, Lansing and Highland Police, responded to the Family Christian Center at which time a call came in regarding two suspicious males at Fitness Pointe, 9950 Calumet Avenue. Police rushed to Fitness Pointe where two males were taken into custody according to Lt. Strbjak. Police say a gun was recovered during the arrest and the investigation continues. No charges have been filed at this time and the identification of the suspects has not been released.
Police say the victim was known to the suspects prior to the shooting. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Munster Police at 219-836-6650.
